Rainy Season Ends in Tokyo, Summer Heat Begins
Tokyoites can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the Japan Meteorological Agency officially declared the end of the rainy season, or “tsuyu,” on July 18th. This year’s rainy season, which began on June 21st, lasted 27 days, a shorter duration compared to the previous year.
While shorter, this year’s rainy season brought a significant amount of rainfall. Central Tokyo experienced a cumulative precipitation of 245.5 mm, a notable increase of about 100 mm compared to average years.
Now that the persistent drizzle has subsided, we can look forward to brighter days and the chance to fully explore Tokyo’s vibrant streets and attractions. However, it’s important to be mindful of the intense summer heat that’s expected in the coming weeks.
